My Introduction as a candidate to the GOP Party

After many years of writing letters and making numerous phone calls I figured it was time to be heard from the inside. No longer being the nut yelling at the building saying no, stop, you can’t! Our country is in serious peril and that reflects directly on our party! We have always been for smaller government and fiscal responsibility. But we have been worried on our perceived lack of compassion so we compromise our principles and ideals time and time again to appease a few fringe voters. When we go home tonight lets really think what is important to us! Do we worry about politics and continue the path we are heading or do we go back to our roots of what our party and country stands for?

Speech at the Indiana Tea Party Property Tax Protest

Thomas Jefferson once said: “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under some pretense of taking care of them.

It is clear Jefferson and the other founders never intended a nation where citizens pay nearly half of everything they earn to the government!

Property rights are our most basic right as a free society and as an American.
Over the last half century there has been a war on these most basic fundamental of rights -- the loss of property rights. The degree of freedom we enjoy our own property whether it’s a thousand acre farm or a single family home in a city is a strong measure of the liberty in a society.

The government is taking our property rights in one fashion or another.
Either through taxation which makes the less fortunate or
Ones on a fixed income to take on a burden they can not afford!

Or through regulation the government prevents us from doing with our property what we would like, essentially making the land worthless.
When we cut the size of government, our taxes will fall.
When we reduce the power of the bureaucracy,  the cost of government will plummet.

And when we firmly grasp the principles of liberty, America will be truly free.
That should be our new declaration taking back control of our government and freedom one step at a time and one office at a time!

Let it be said that no one cared.
That no one objected once it’s realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy.

I’m Shawn Olson taking the first step and going for one office -- State Representative for District 4.
